Wendell R. Charles

Wendell R. Charles, 90, of Uniontown, passed away peacefully on Wednesday January 22, 2025 at his home.  A greatly loved father, brother, grandfather, an excited soon to be great grandfather of a baby girl and friend to so many we could not even count. Wendell's generosity, wisdom, and blue eyes will be deeply missed by all who knew him. 

He was born December 8, 1934 in Elizabeth, PA, the son of the late Griffith and Margaret (Cothery) Charles. 

His life was a testament to hard work and dedication. Wendell Charles proudly owned and operated Hopwood enterprises from 1981 until his passing. His leadership and commitment to the business left a lasting impact on everyone who knew him. 

Wendell was a proud member of the Masonic Lodge #526 in Elizabeth PA.   

Wendell Charles was always there for his family and friends providing unwavering support in every way he could. 

Wendell was the patriarch of the family, the one the family could always depend on. He was definitely the family's foundation, a steady rock through every storm. He truly was the family's pillar of strength. 

In addition to his parents, Wendell is preceded in death by his sister Roumayne Gioia and his longtime companion for 31 years Patricia Peters-Adamson.  

Wendell is survived by his children Bobbe Jean Krznaric of Monongahela and Keith Charles (Regina) of Uniontown; grandchildren Ashley Jean Krznaric, Cassie Charles-Frey (Jimmy Jr.), and Shane Krznaric; sister Joanne Cain (Thomas) of Monongahela. 

Visitation will be held in the DONALD R. CRAWFORD FUNERAL HOME, HOPWOOD, PA on Sunday January 26 from 2-4pm and 6-8pm. Additional visitation will be held on Monday January 27 from 10am until the hour of the funeral service at 11am with Pastor Mark Scott officiating. Interment will be privately held in Round Hill Cemetery, Elizabeth, PA.
