Sandra L. Bieniek was born March 4, 1951, to Garnet and Frank Malinzak in Uniontown, Pa., and sister to Judith Johnson (McMullen) and Dale Malinzak. Sam passed on October 14, 2023.
Sam graduated from St. John High School, then California University of PA, with a degree in social services. She dedicated her professional career to helping young people as a Social Worker at Laurel Highlands SD, the Florence Crittenton home in Erie, PA, and later in the Uniontown area through her work at City Mission’s HOPE House. Sam retired from the Fayette County Courthouse register of wills office. She was a lifelong helper to everyone around her, always having an ear to listen for her family and friends. She married Joseph S. Bieniek in 1972. Joe and Sam loved life and lived for one another until Joseph’s untimely passing in 1999. Joe and Sam raised their family in Erie, PA, and had two sons, Eric and Jonathan. Sam’s love for her sons ran deep and was selfless in many ways. Sam loved reading, shopping, and watching movies and was always up for a good dessert, especially during a late night movie.
Sandra was preceded in death by her father, Frank L. Malinzak, mother, Garnet Malinzak, her husband, Joseph, and youngest son Jonathan. Also preceding her passing was her niece, Cathi Pompura, and brother-in-law, Peter Pompura.
She is survived by her oldest son Eric, his wife Joanna, and her beloved grandchildren Ella, Marlee, and Joseph. She is also survived by her Aunt Martha Malinzak, stepmother Edie Malinzak, sister Judy Johnson (McMullen), Judy’s husband Fred McMullen, her brother Dale Malinzak and Connie Stambaugh. Sisters-in-law Pamela Pompura and Karen Fletcher, brother-in-law Bob Fletcher (and Theresa), and nephews include Chris Johnson, Bobby Joe and Patrick Fletcher, Bradley Pompura, and “little” Dale Malinzak. and special family friend Cindy Gaydos.
Finally, Sam’s family extends their thanks and gratitude to all of folks who helped her throughout her health needs the past few years at Encompass Healthcare, Uniontown Hospital and Rehab and Mt. Macrina Manor.
Visitation will be held in the DONALD R CRAWFORD FUNERAL HOME HOPWOOD on Wednesday, October 18 from 9am until 11:30am when prayers of transfer will be held followed by a noon Mass of Christian burial in St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church, Uniontown, PA. Interment will be private for the family.
