Paula Groves

Paula (Boyd) (Apone) Groves, 81, of Apollo Beach, FL, passed away on Friday January 17, 2025.

She was born July 4, 1943 in Charleston, WV, the daughter of the late Basel and Evelyn (Robinson) Fowler.

In addition to her parents, Paula is preceded in death by husband Grover C. Boyd and husband Louis Apone; and children Jasper R. Boyd and Vanessa M. Pappas.

Paula is survived by her loving husband James Groves of Apollo Beach FL; children Azby G. Boyd and wife Rinda Rae of Farmington, PA, Abigail R. Boyd of Salisbury, NC and Jennifer Boyd Ewing husband J. David Ewing of Wimauma, FL; step children Cyndi Apone Deermount of St. Petersburg, FL, Jilda Apone of Pittsburgh, PA Jacqueline Apone of Pittsburgh, PA Karla Sabec of Farmington, PA, Thomas Apone of Olall, WA ; grandchildren Alicia (Boyd) Jones of Seaford, DE, Devon V. Boyd of Addison, PA, Nicholas S. Ewing of Tampa, Fl Anya R. Boyd Block and husband Bobby of SC, and Adam Boyd of Salibury, NC; step-grandchildren Melanie and John Cerny of Smithfield, PA and Laura and Chuck Bean of Markleysburg, PA; great-grandchildren Gianna Vanessa Block and Genevieve J. Block; brother Barry Fowler of WV; daughter-in-law Carol Michaels of Addison, PA; and son-in-law Chuck Pappas of Lakeland, FL.

During her life, she was a wonderful, loyal, devoted wife, mother, and friend. She could master anything that life threw at her. She was an awesome cook, baker and was a wiz at canning, teaching her children with a firm but loving hand. She met life, head-on and was always ready, willing and able to go with the flow and enjoy whatever came her way. In later years she worked at Nemacolin, she was the Assistant manager of the Holiday Inn, CO manager at Seagate Towers in Delray Beach, and was a manager of the cosmetic sales counter for Clinic, Estee Lauder. 

Paula loved everyone as much as they loved her, and that was just her way. We were and are blessed by having known her and her love.

Visitation will be held in the DONALD R. CRAWFORD FUNERAL HOME, HOPWOOD, PA. on Friday January 31 from 4pm-7pm. Additional visitation will be held on Saturday February 1 from 10am until the hour of the funeral service at 11am. Interment will be held in Christ Lutheran Cemetery.
