Loni Kathleen (Hawkins) Cassity

Loni Cassity, 70, of Uniontown, PA, was called home by God for peace and healing on September 11, 2025 after a long battle with cancer.

After living most of her life in Silver Springs, MD, with her then husband Scott “Beau” Cassity, she returned back to the Uniontown Area in 2018 to enjoy her loving family and friends.

If you knew Loni, you would know she always had a positive zest for life. She loved music, being anywhere near the ocean, and surrounding herself with nature. She had such an appreciation for the beauty of flowers and the biggest heart for animals. She loved the “Serenity Prayer” which she quoted often throughout her life.

Loni was preceded in death by her beloved parents, Ivan and Kate Hawkins.

She leaves behind her only son, Thomas Cassity (Kassi) of Belle Vernon, PA, and her only granddaughter Aurora, whom she loved beyond belief. She also leaves behind her sister Nancy Roderick (Robert) of Smithfield, PA and brother Robert Hawkins (Gloria) of Felton, DE. She was a special aunt to her only niece and two nephews, along with many great-nieces and nephews.

Loni’s family would like to express their deepest gratitude to Dr. Lijun Dai and her wonderful staff at UPMC Cancer Center, the second-floor nurses and staff at WVU Uniontown Hospital, and WVU Hospice for their kindness and support during this difficult time.

In keeping with Loni’s wishes, we ask loved ones to celebrate her life by turning the music up a little louder, dancing a little longer and by loving a little harder because life is too short to be anything but happy.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the DONALD R. CRAWFORD FUNERAL HOME, HOPWOOD and will be held privately with the family.

In honor of Loni’s love for cats, charitable donations can be made in her name to Fixin’ Fayette (11 W. Church St. Uniontown, PA 15401).
