Joseph Matthew Hackney, 76, of Hopwood, passed away on Thursday January 15, 2026, at his home.
He was born March 20, 1949, son of the late Marlin “Bud” and Laura (Chunkala) Hackney.
Joseph is survived by his loving wife Regina Kay (Lozaw) Hackney; his children Carla Fabac (Michael) of Irwin, PA and Joseph M. Hackney Jr. (Christine) of Lemont Furnace, PA; grandchildren Luke Fabac, Joseph Hackney III, Marissa Fabac, and Alyssa Hackney; brothers Jay Hackney of Crucible, PA and David Hackney (Patty) of McClellandtown; and many nieces and nephews.
He was a retired Coal Miner working in the Shannopin Mine. He was a member of UMWA for 22 years and a member of Hutchinson Sportsman’s Club.
Joseph was a graduate of German Township High School class of 1968.
Visitation will be held in the DONALD R. CRAWFORD FUNERAL HOME, HOPWOOD, PA on Sunday January 18 from 2-6pm. Additional visitation will be held on Monday January 19 from 10am until the hour of the funeral service at 11AM with Pastor Kyle Eisenhuth officiating. Interment will follow in McClellandtown Presbyterian Cemetery.
