Jessie (Grimm) McKinney Firestone, 97, of Uniontown (Formerly of Farmington) passed away peacefully on Thursday November 6, 2025 at Monarch Meadows P.C.H surrounded by her loving family.
She was born in Uniontown, PA on November 5, 1928, the first child of the late Reid and Jessie (Dean) Grimm.
She graduated from North Union High School in 1946. She was a devoted Christian and Charter member of Wharton Furnace Union Church, Farmington where she went her whole life.
Jessie loved to square dance since she was a teenager. She was a member of the Appalachian Mountains Square Dance Club. She still got to listen to Dave Dahl music every tuesday morning at Monarch Meadows. She also loved gospel music and going to old time fiddlers. She belonged to the Mountain Citizen Action Group Farmington, PA. She was still square dancing at the age of 92. She went out every Saturday to spend the day at Mindy’s (home). She loved our close-knit family. She was a very loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She will be greatly missed.
Jessie is survived by her loving children Dr. Larry (Debbie) McKinney of Orlando, FL, Sandy (Jim) Thorpe of Lemont Furnace, Colleen McGettrick of Uniontown, and Vicki Liston of Lemont Furnace; grandchildren Jason McKinney, Jamie (Aaron) Gleitman, Chuck (Erin) Sutton, Mindy (Ron) Thomas, Missy (Doug) Abbott, and Mandy Liston; great-grandchildren Mirah, Chloe, Haley, Isabel, Elijah, Cale, Kiley, Lucas, Michaela, Joey, and Callie; siblings Eleanor Bigam, Dick Grimm, and Kenny Grimm; special friend Ralph Grubbs; and friends Lawana King and Charolette (Vince) Cable who always sent her cards.
In addition to her parents, Jessie is preceded in death by her husband James “Mick” McKinney (1981), husband Ralph Firestone (2010); grandson Craig Sutton; brothers Paul Grimm and Jim Grimm; sister Eileen Cole; son-in-law Earl Sutton and son-in-law Tom McGettrick.
The family would like to thank Dan and Katie Vivian and the caregivers and staff at Monarch Meadows where she resided the last 4 years. Also thank you to Amedisys Hospice Care team especially her nurse Brandi Smith, Aide Georgia Staley, and her granddaughter Mindy her bff who took special care of her and took her home every Saturday.
Visitation will be held in the DONALD R. CRAWFORD FUNERAL HOPWOOD, PA on Sunday November 9 from 2-4pm and 6-8pm. Additional visitation will be held on Monday November 10 from 10am until the hour of the funeral service at 11am with Pastor Steve Davis and son Rev Dr. Larry McKinney officiating, Interment will follow in Bethel Cemetery.
