Ida Ruth Maxwell Cowsert age 93 of Uniontown, Pa, passed away Monday February 11, 2019. She was born in Grayling, Michigan on September 28,1925 to her parents Marlin R. Maxwell and Celia Crapo Maxwell.
She was a graduate of Hale High School in Hale, Michigan. She then went to Spring Arbor Junior College in Michigan, then onto Greenville College in Illinois.
While in Greenville she met Eugene W. Cowsert to whom she was married on June 20, 1947.
Three sons were born to this union, Kenneth E. Donald L. and Marlin T. She updated her education in California University of Pa and taught in the Laurel Highlands School District for 11 years. Her husband being a minister caused them to live in various locations. Upon retirement they settled in Uniontown and called it their home. She was beloved by many. She was very active in church work all her life, especially in the women’s organization of the Free Methodist Church. She was a delegate to a number of their conventions.
Ida was predeceased by her parents and a brother David.
She is survived by her husband Eugene, sons and sisters, Martha Bobb, Dora Burt, brother John Maxwell, three grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
Friends will be received in Uniontown Free Methodist Church 300 Evans St, Uniontown, Pa on Wednesday February 13, 2019 from 6-8 P.M, Thursday February 14, 2019 from 2-4 and 6-8 P.M and Friday February 15, 2019 until 11:00 AM the hour of the service with Pastor Drew Mountcastle and Pastor Douglas Rabe officiating. Entombment will follow in LaFayette Memorial Park Mausoleum. Arrangements are under the care of Donald R. Crawford Funeral Home Hopwood, Pa.
