Helen Marie (Midlik) Ponzurick, 98, of Hopwood, PA, passed away on Friday August 22, 2025 at Mount Macrina Manor surrounded by her family and Father Kyprian of St. John the Baptist Byzantine Catholic Church.

She was born May 5, 1927 in York Run, PA, the daughter of the late Peter and Julianne (Mihalko) Midlik.

In addition to her parents, Helen is preceded in death by her husband Thomas A. Ponzurick; son Dr. Thomas G. Ponzurick; granddaughter Rebecca Lynn Ponzurick; brother Andrew Midlik; infant sister Anna Midlik; sisters Mary Cihota and Kathryn Truszkowski.

Helen graduated from Uniontown Senior High School Class of 1945. She retired from the Fayette County Treasurer’s Office. Her family operated the former Midlik’s Store on Lincoln Street in Uniontown. She is the last surviving member of her generation from the Midlik and Ponzurick families.

Faith and religion were very important to Helen. She was a lifelong member of St. John The Baptist Byzantine Catholic Church from her youth until her health no longer permitted her to participate. She volunteered for numerous church functions, including making Pirohi, working Ethnic Festivals and bake sales. She was also involved with Rosary Walk in Uniontown. She was a member of the Church’s Ladies Guild society and a member of the former women’s duck pin bowling league. She was a member and officer of the Greek Catholic Union Lodge 81.
