Harry C. LaClair Jr.

Harry C. LaClair, Jr. “Pappy”, 89, of Hopwood, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday December 31, 2024 with his daughter Pam at his side.

He was born May 30, 1935, the son of the late Harry C. Sr. and Ethel Mae LaClair.

He was married to his wife of 60 years Linda (Davis) LaClair, who passed in 2017.

Harry was a heavy equipment operator and retired from Gulisek Construction. He was a proud member of Local Union 66 with 55 years of service. He was a Veteran serving in the US Army.

His passion was his yard. Never a weed in sight and every blade of grass cut “his way”. Don’t try to help because he would tell you if you didn’t do something right and have to show you the correct way.

After retirement Harry and his son provided grass cutting services for many years. He found enjoyment in hunting, fishing, and enjoying the outdoors with his kids.

He had a soft spot in his heart for his grandchildren and was very proud of each of them. They in turn loved their Pappy and spent time taking care of him when his health started to decline.

Pappy was always finding ways to make us laugh, whether calling us by the wrong names or just giving us that little ornery smirk.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his siblings Nancy Lee, Bob, Don, Bill, and Kathy LaClair; in-laws Robert and Elsie Davis; infant sons Harry C. LaClair III and Timothy A. LaClair.

Left to cherish his memories is his loving daughter Pamela LaClair (Nicholson) Coleman and husband Marshall; son Larry LaClair and his fiancée Michelle Silbaugh; grandchildren Austin Nicholson, MacKenzie LaClair (Ryan) and Sydney LaClair (Ryan); step-grandchildren Justin Coleman (Adah), Destiny Rankin (Kyle); step great-grandchildren Connor Coleman, Chandler Rankin, and Owen Coleman; siblings Linda Jean Falls (John), and Julie Grego (Carmen); sisters-in-law Hanna LaClair and Robin LaClair; many nieces and nephews that he may not have gotten to see often but often thought about.

Pappy may have been grumpy, ornery, and stubborn at times, but he became softer in his later years. He loved his family and was grateful for us taking care of him.

Visitation will be held in the DONALD R. CRAWFORD FUNERAL HOME, HOPWOOD on Sunday January 5, 2025 from 2-8pm and on Monday January 6, 2025 from 10am until the hour of the funeral service at 11am with Pastor Michael Lyons officiating. Interment will be held in Lafayette Memorial Park.
