Gregory Phillip “Phil” Angelo, 81, of Isabella, PA, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, December 11, 2025.
He was born November 26, 1944, in Naples, Italy, the son of the late Annaglad J. and Anna Marie (Montinino) Angelo.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife of 55 years Joyce Angelo; sister Anna Marie Lyons; brother Richard Angelo; grandson Andrew Rouse; and his in-laws James Edward and Helen Gehron.
He is survived by his loving children Melissa Jenkins (Joseph) of Allison, PA and Jon Angelo (Renee Pharo) of East Millsboro, PA; grandchildren Jenna Marie Rouse (Derek Brown), Matthew Rouse (Emily Brown), and Kyleigh Polish-Angelo; great grandchildren Nevaeh and Derek Brown Jr.; brother Vince Angelo (Barb); brother-in-law Richard Gehron (Rose Marie); sisters-in-law Mary Jane Gehron and Barbara Gehron; and many nieces, nephews, and friends.
He was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Roman Catholic Church, Footdale, PA.
Phil worked many jobs throughout his life. He started teaching in Brownsville School District in 1984 and continued his career until his retirement in 2006. He also worked with the Unemployment Office in Charleroi, a coal miner at the Isabella Mines, and ran a CB business out of his garage. Additionally, Phil was the founder and owner of PA Lures.
Phil was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was also a dedicated sports enthusiast who loved cheering for the Pittsburgh Pirates and Steelers.
A proud veteran, he served honorably in the United States Army from 1963 to 1966, with assignments in Germany, Italy, and France.
Arrangements are under the direction of the DONALD R. CRAWFORD FUNERAL HOME, HOPWOOD, PA. Visitation will be held in the Kish-Fabry Funeral Home, Republic, PA on Monday, December 15 from 2-6pm. Additional visitation will be held on Tuesday, December 16 from 9am until the hour of the blessing service at 10am. Interment will follow in Acklin Cemetery, Brownsville, PA.
