Elizabeth Bess Watt Dekowski, 99, of Uniontown, passed peacefully on June 8, 2024 at her daughter Rose’s home in Cameron, WV with her loving family by her side.
She was born July 5, 1924 in West Newton, the daughter of the late William Henry and Elizabeth Belle (Wiltrout) Watt.
In addition to her parents, Elizabeth is predeceased by her husband Stanley W. Dekowski; daughter Elizabeth; son Stanley J. Dekowski; and siblings James, Edgar, Bill, Lou, and Dolores “Sis”.
Elizabeth is survived by her children Paula and Jeff Langley; Rose Mary and James Carney; Dolores and Paul Paroda; and Josephine and Randy Vresko; and daughter-in-law Lynne Kern Dekowski; grandchildren Robert Chesler, Jody Anthony, Brent Cindrick, Kimberly Young, Brian Vresko, and Nick Paroda; great-grandchildren Ariana Chesler, Dylan Anthony, and Emily Anthony; and many beloved nieces and nephews especially Mark Watt, Thomas Collings, and John Lewis who all resided at the farm.
She was a fire warden in Hopwood during WW II, and a Drum Major at North Union High School.
She was the first Miss Uniontown in 1947. She went to New York and studied modeling at the Barbazon Modeling Agency.
She was the Democratic Committee Woman in District 4.
Along with her many other accomplishments were prize winning quilting, making wedding cakes, designing hats, veils, prom and wedding dresses.
Visitation will be held in the DONALD R. CRAWFORD FUNERAL HOME, HOPWOOD on Thursday June 13 from 2-8pm and on Friday from 9-9:30am when prayers of transfer will be held followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. John the Evangelist R.C. Church at 10am. Interment will follow at Sylvan Heights Cemetery.
