Brenda Kay Dirda

Brenda Kay Dirda, 77, of Scottdale (Formerly of Fairbanks), passed away on November 22, 2023 at Frick Hospital. 

She was born January 1, 1946, in Hopwood PA, a daughter of the late Samuel and Nellie (Cramer) Herring. 

In addition to her parents, Brenda is predeceased by Husband Joseph Dirda (1999); son Gary Schaible Jr.; stepdaughter Beverly Melata; and siblings Lois Metts, Glenn Herring, John Herring, and Bonnie Bryan.  

She is survived by her children Nancy Jenkins (David Jr.) of Pittsburgh and Dwight Schaible (Daffinni) of New Hampshire; daughter-in-law Andrea Boyd of Scottdale; grandchildren Elizabeth Schaible (Robert), Jacob Schaible (Marcella), Emily Schaible, and Kristina Schaible; 6 great-grandchildren; several stepchildren and step grandchildren; siblings William Herring (Brenda) of Uniontown, Shirley Suba (Rick) of Indiana, and Donna Ferenck of Carmichaels. 

She was retired from Sensys Technology where she worked for many years in the assembly.

Brenda was known as the best baker for family events. In her spare time, she loved to crochet, read, garden, travel, and spend time with her great grandchildren. 

Visitation will be held in the DONALD R. CRAWFORD FUNERAL HOME (HOPWOOD) on Monday November 27 from 2pm-6pm and on Tuesday November 28 from 11am until the hour of the funeral service at 12pm with Pastor Jim Engle officiating. Interment will follow at LaFayette Cemetery.
