Barbara Haase Obituary

Barbara (March 27, 1933 – April 22, 2026) of Farmington, Pennsylvania, passed away peacefully, with her family by her side, leaving behind a life defined by service, community, and deep love for her family.

Born in Uniontown, Pennsylvania, Barbara grew up in Farmington and graduated from Uniontown High School in 1951. Shortly after, she began working as a secretary for the Coca-Cola Bottling Company. Throughout her life, she carried a simple but powerful motto: “I want to be useful.” She lived those words every day.

Barbara devoted herself to raising her three children and later found meaningful ways to serve her community. She co-owned the beloved Mountain Memories craft shop in Farmington with her cousin, Sonnie Cesarino, where she shared her creativity and love of handcrafted work with others. She also served for many years as Judge of Elections for Wharton Township, a role she took seriously and carried out with dedication.

She was an active and faithful member of Bethel Church of the Brethren in Farmington, where she sang in the choir for many years and participated deeply in church life. Barbara was also a dedicated member and officer of the Great Meadows Garden Club, where she enjoyed growing and arranging flowers.

Barbara found happiness in life’s simple pleasures. She loved sewing, watching tennis, and gathering with friends to play 500—a game at which she was especially skilled. She was a fan of classic western movies and cherished her favorite television show, Little House on the Prairie. Florida held a special place in her heart, and she spent many winters there enjoying its warmth.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Robert Haase, with whom she shared 66 years of marriage.

Above all, Barbara treasured her family. She is survived by her brother Neil (Carrie) Hager of Farmington, PA; and her three children, Cheryl (Dan) Duncan of Dunbar, PA, Debra (Michael) Savage of Farmington, PA, and Todd (Cheryl) Haase of North Stonington, CT, ten grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren, all of whom carry forward her legacy of kindness, service, and quiet strength.

The family extends special thanks to the staff of Amedisys for their excellent care, especially Brooke, as well as heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Addison of Uniontown, where Barbara resided in her final years. During her time there, she made many new friends among the residents and staff and truly enjoyed the activities and camaraderie, all while receiving unparalleled love and care.

She will be remembered for her generous spirit, her dedication to others, and her unwavering desire to be useful in every season of life.

Family and friends will be received in the DONALD R. CRAWFORD FUNERAL HOME, FARMINGTON, PA, on Tuesday April 28 from 11am until the hour of the funeral service at 1pm with Pastor Steve Davis officiating.
