Barbara Chuska Obituary

Barbara Chuska passed peacefully on Monday April 28, 2025, at her home in Uniontown.

Barbara was born on September 16, 1944. She lived most of her 80 years of life in the Uniontown, PA area.

Barbara held many professions over her working career and excelled in each one. Over that time, Barbara accumulated many lifetime friends. She had been enjoying a quiet retirement for the past several years.

It’s hard to put down in words an entire life. Barbara Chuska lived large when she wanted and small when she needed. She was quick-witted, funnier than all of us and more thoughtful than most. She never forgot a birthday, a holiday, or to comment on a Facebook post. Facebook will be a lot quieter without her. She and her late husband Ronnie lived a quiet, comfortable life together until his passing. She often said he saved her life, and he claimed she saved his. They were both right!

She was a “Nanny” of immense proportions, a mother to two wonderful children. Though her daughter Joyce sadly passed too young.

She leaves behind her son Jim (and wife Laura) who is like her in looks and charisma. One of five siblings, she leaves behind two younger sisters, Karen (always a close ally), and Diana, but joins her brother Daniel, youngest sister Patty, father and mother, Edward and Elsie Hradesky, and many more special family members in heaven.
She is also survived by grandchildren, Jessica (and Chris), James, Mitchell, Chloe(and Jake) and Miles, and great grandchildren, Rosalyn, Lillian, Magnolia, Violet, Rowan, Teagan, Finn and Holden.

Fortunately, almost all of her living relatives listed above, traveling from all over the country, were able to spend the weekend celebrating her 80th birthday at her Uniontown home last September.

Barbara was a creature of comforts, and her remaining family has comfort knowing she’s finding those comforts and then some in her own paradise. Her humor, her gumption, her listening ear, and her big heart will be missed by all. Her achievements, her bad times, her mind, and HERSELF could never be put into one piece. But that’s what makes her life worth celebrating, worth remembering, worth carrying with us until our time comes and we can see her again.

Visitation will be held in the DONALD R. CRAWFORD FUNERAL HOME, HOPWOOD on Saturday May 3 from 2-8PM. Interment will be held on Sunday May 4 at 1PM in St. Mary’s Nativity R.C. Cemetery.
