Arleigh Chisnell Obituary

Arleigh Charles Chisnell, 80, of Gibbon Glade, passed away peacefully with his family by his side on December 12, 2024, at his residence.

He was born April 18, 1944, in Uniontown, Pennsylvania, a son of the late Charles G. and Virginia Hinebaugh-Chisnell.

On July 3, 1984, in Oakland, MD, he married his loving wife Deborah Knox-Chisnell, who survives along with a son, William Chisnell (Bill) with fiancé Lindsey Strack and grandson Valen, of Gibbon Glade. One nephew, Kevin (Amy) Resh and great niece Daisy, of Confluence. One Special Cousin, Ron (Bridget) Hinebaugh of Daytona, FL.

In addition to his parents, Arleigh was preceded in death by a daughter, Shanna Lee Chisnell and his in-laws, Joe and Dolly Knox.

He was a 1962 graduate of Uniontown High School and attended Delaware Valley College studying Agriculture for three years. He retired after forty-four years as a Bus Driver for the Livengood-Spade Bus Lines.

He was a 5th generation farmer at the Chisnell Family Farm, showing Black Angus Steer at the Fayette County and Greene County Fairgrounds for 10 years in the 4H, where he gained the title of Grand Champion Showman. He was enlisted with the 429 Company B Engineer Battalion from 1965-1971. He was a dedicated member of the Fort Necessity Lions Club for 39 years and received the Melvin Jones Fellow Award on June 3, 2005. He was also a lifetime member of the Wharton Township Hunting and Fishing Club.

He found joy in spending forty beautiful years with his beloved wife and cherished every moment they shared together. He loved spending quality time with his son, whether it be at the ballfield, going fishing, or out hunting. He enjoyed making memories with his daughter-in law and grandson. He had a few special friends very close to his heart; Tom and Roger Baxter who went on countless adventures, creating long-lasting memories together. Jack and Jim Lewis, for leaving behind a legacy of laughter and friendship. Fred Campbell, who he met while doing 4H for the International Farm Exchange in 1962. Frank Spade, where he would enjoy his school mornings, sitting at the bus garage. Kevin Ravenscroft, for always being a great friend with unwavering support. And his Orange Tabby Cat “Punky” that he loved dearly.

We would like to give a special thanks to Pastor Greg Moran of Canaan Church of Gibbon Glade for his many visits and continued prayers, his nurse Diane Humbert, and to the whole Farmington Medical Center Staff.
