Alvera (Rivas) Mateosky

It is with deep sorrow and much love that we mourn the passing of Alvera (Rivas) Mateosky, of Lemont Furnace, PA who left this world on Thursday April 4, 2024 at the age of 71 while at home after a long tireless fight with heart disease.

She was born September 28, 1952 in Uniontown, PA, the daughter of the late Joseph and Rose (Hagerman) Rivas.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her loving husband of 53 years Stanley L. Mateosky; sister Joann Guty; brother-in-law Houston Belski; and nephew Jarrod Guty.

Alvera love helping people more than anything and chose a profession as a nurse to make her passion a lifelong career. She graduated from Brownsville High School class of 1970 and continued her education at West Penn School of nursing where she graduated Magna Cumlaude and obtained her nursing degree. She cared for others as a nurse for 30 years.

Alvera was a caring wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend. Surviving to cherish her memory and spirit are son, Brian Mateosky and Wife Teddi of Lemont Furnace; daughter Jennifer Fleszar and husband Don of Lemont Furnace; grandchildren, Nathan, Jacob, Nicholas, Adam, and Brandon; sister Mary Louise Belski; and several nieces and nephews.

Alvera loved spending time with her family. Her greatest moments in life were spent with her beloved husband Stanley. They built a life together with their happiest moments being her family gatherings where she would enjoy spending time with her grandchildren. The things that made her happiest were butterflies, her angels Stanley and Joann, and her Puppies Julius and Mia.

Alvera was a member of Saint Therese de Lisieux Roman Catholic Church.

Family and friends will be received in the DONALD R. CRAWFORD FUNERAL HOME, HOPWOOD on Monday April 8 from 2-4pm and 6-8pm. Additional visitation will be held on Tuesday from 9am until 9:30am when Prayers of Transfer will be said followed by a mass of Christian burial at 10am. in Saint Therese de Lisieux Roman Catholic Church.

Interment will follow in LaFayette Memorial Park, Brier Hill, Pa.
