Albert Marker Obituary

Albert Lee Marker, 90, of Markleysburg, passed away on Saturday April 6, 2024 with his loving family by his side.

He was born February 10, 1934 in Farmington, the son of the late Jesse and Martha (Kunkle) Marker.

Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 63 years, Barbara (Leber) Marker; daughters, Cindy (Floyd “Cubby”) Carey, Jenny (Tony) Connell, Christina (Jeff) Orr, and Tamara (Nick) Mitchell; grandchildren, Amanda (Ryan) Jeffreys, Courtney Fisher, Ryan (Kim) Wagner, Cory (Lindsay) Carey, Brenna (Seth) Edgell, Logan (Courtney) Orr, Silas, Genesis, Shiloh, Justus, and Lucas Mitchell, and Steph Connell; great-grandchildren, Jocelyn, Jacquelyn, and Rylan Jeffreys, Zachary, Brooke and Keelan Fisher, Kaylie, Eli, Mason and Ezra Wagner, Micah Carey and Adeline Edgell; siblings, James (Virginia) Marker, Wanetta Hagerty, Arlene Shaffer, and Earl Marker; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers, Glendell “Mack”, Elmer, Wilmer, George and John Marker; sisters Alice Alatalo, Dorothy Shimko, and infant sisters Thelma and Aleta Marker.

Albert, A United States Army Veteran, spent most of his career as a professional truck driver for Chemical Leaman Tank Lines, Inc. and finished passing on his knowledge as a CDL Driving Instructor for Diesel Institute of America in Grantsville, MD.

He was always giving to his community as a member of Union Chapel Church, Markleysburg Henry Clay VFD, Mountain Fellowship Center, and Sansom Chapel Cemetery Board.

He enjoyed fast cars and tinkering in his garage. His greatest joy was with the guitar in hand surrounded by his family and most of all, singing with his daughters.

Visitation will be held in the DONALD R. CRAWFORD FUNERAL HOME, FARMINGTON on Thursday April 11 from 6pm-8pm and Friday April 12 from 2pm-4pm and 6pm-8pm with Markleysburg VFD conducting a service at 7PM. Additional visitation will be held at Union Chapel Church on Saturday April 13 from 10am until the hour of the funeral service at 11am with Pastor Dave Herring officiating. Interment will follow in Sansom Chapel Cemetery with AMVETS POST 103 conducting military honors.
