Thomas D. Rice, 82 of Hopwood, Pa. passed away Friday evening September 13, 2019 at his home. He was born May 30, 1937 in Hutchinson, Pa. the son of the late Phillip and Annabelle {Vitti} Rice. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a brother Arnold Rice and nephew David Rice.
Surviving are his loving wife of 43 years Cathy {Burke} Rice and two sons, Phillip Rice {Kristen} and Luke T. Rice {Erin} all of Hopwood. Two grandchildren, Tyler and Isaac Rice. One sister Lillian Rogers of Hopwood, Sister-in-law Annabelle Rice of Ohio, and several nieces and nephews.
Tom was a graduate of South Union High School where he was the president of his senior class. Tom was also a member of the band where he said he was the best drummer they had. He then added the only drummer! Tom attended the very first class Penn State started in Uniontown and attended West Virginia University. Tom was a member of Connellsville Street Church of Christ where he served as treasurer for 30 years. He was a salesman with W.W. Granger Co. where he was a member of the Quota Buster Club and a former owner of Young’s Bakery. His second retirement was from M & R. Transportation. He was a coach with HARC baseball where he served as President and Secretary and he also coached indoor soccer. He was Lifelong Pittsburgh Pirate fan.

Friends will be received in the DONALD R. CRAWFORD FUNERAL HOME HOPWOOD Tuesday, September 17, 2019 from 2:00 to 4:00 and 6:00 to 8:00 and Wednesday, September 18, 2019 at Connellsville Street Church of Christ from 10:00 – 11:00am the hour of the service with Reverend David Watson officiating. Interment will follow in Mt. View Cemetery.
