Sam Snyder Obituary

Sam D. Snyder, 82 of Uniontown PA passed away on December 4th, 2019 surrounded by his beloved daughters. Born on June 10th, 1937, he was the son of the late Emery Snyder & Beatrice Snyder. Sam lived life to the fullest and loved his family with his entire being. He was an active father and grandfather and did not hesitate to help in any way he could. Sam never looked his age or was limited by it. Wherever he went, he loved hearing and seeing the disbelief of people meeting him for the first time and being shocked he was 82. It brought a smile to his face that was contagious to those around him. Sam loved telling his family stories which were always comical and entertaining. His family would describe him as caring, giving, strong and loving. Sam was unique and eccentric to say the least and left a lasting impression on everyone he met.

To say Sam was a hard worker is an understatement. After his retirement from truck driving, he did yard work for many years. He prided himself on his own yard and garden and it was beyond beautiful. He also spent his time sewing and quilting. He made beautiful quilts for family and friends, local and across the country.

Sam was a member of the George C. Marshall Amvets Post 103 in Hopwood, PA. He was an avid dancer and lit up the dance floor with his jitterbug. He faithfully attended the German Township High School Class of 1956 Reunion each year until this last year. He enjoyed reminiscing with his former classmates and friends. He was a member of St. Therese Roman Catholic Church in Uniontown, PA.

In addition to his parents, Sam was predeceased by his brothers, John Jack Byers and Robert Byers; his sisters, Mae Ruev and Audrey Sharpnack. He was also predeceased by his former wife and friend, Joan M. Wensing Conti and his longtime companion, Betty J. Hall

Sam is survived by his brother, Tom Snyder (Charlene) and sister, Connie Myers. He is also survived by his daughters who meant the world to him, Deidra J. Patitucci (Anthony), Shauna R. Smith (Justin), Shuzette J. Johnston, and Angel S. Sigwalt (Chuck Crago); his grandchildren, Michael Patitucci (Jen), Anthony Patitucci, Rachel Patitucci (Gerald Plum), Brianna Johnston, Olivia Johnston, Hannah Dorazio, Chuck Sigwalt (Danielle Delorenzo); his great grandchildren, Dante Patitucci, Nica Patitucci, Milania Patitucci, Santino Smith, and Owen Koontz. Sam is also survived by his companion, Pearl Lorraine Krichbaum, many nieces and nephews, and forever friends.

The family would like to thank the team of doctors at West Penn Hospital who were absolutely wonderful in the care of Sam and his family.

Family and friends will be received in THE DONALD R. CRAWFORD FUNERAL HOME HOPWOOD, PA on Monday, December 9, 2019 from 2 pm to 4 pm and 6 pm to 8 pm. Services will be held on Tuesday December 10, 2019 at 10 am when a blessing service will be held at the funeral home
