Harold Bailey Herring age 82 of Farmington, PA passed away Friday, April 13, 2018, at his residence. He was born in Farmington, Pa, October 9, 1935 son of the late Alonzo and Marie Spaw Herring. In addition to is parents he was preceded in death by two brothers, Roland Herring and Darwin Herring.
Mr. Herring was a member of the Farmington Church of the Brethren. He began his working career as a machinist working for US Steel and Dravo Corporation In Pittsburgh, Pa and Gaithersburg, Md and for Rockwell Corporation in Uniontown. He served in the U.S. Army Reserves from 1961 to 1962. He returned to the family dairy farm in 1965 until his retirement in 2009. He served as director on the Maryland Coop. Board; Dairyman Coop Board and Dairy Farmers of America. He founded the Mountain Counties Hauling Coop where he also served as a director. He served as a director on the board of Bruceton Mills WV brand of Southern States Coop. He served on the Pennsylvania Dairy Promotion Board. He was a member of the Holstein Association local and state chapters and served as a director. He was active for many years with the Fayette County Fair with the 4-H and Dairy Committee. He was also a member of the Farm Bureau Association.
Mr. Herring is survived by his wife of 56 years, Sheila G. Gilligan Herring, children Michael Herring and wife Kelly of Connellsville, Stephen Herring and wife Sandra of Farmington, Christopher Herring and wife Sharon of Farmington and Bryan Herring and wife Beth of Uniontown, grandchildren, Lacey Herring, Kristen Herring, Brandon Herring, Emily Herring ,Olivia Herring, Travis Shriver and Seth Herring, great granddaughter Bailee Herring, and sisters Lorna Acklin of Lakewood,Ohio and Judy VanBremen of Farmington Pa
Friends will be received in the DONALD R. CRAWFORD FUNERAL HOME, FARMINGTON, PA. Sunday, April 15, from 6 to 8 pm, Monday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 pm and Tuesday in Bethel Church of the Brethren, Farmington Pa from 12 to 1 pm the hour of service with Reverend Steve Davis officiating. Interment in Bethel Cemetery.
